U.S. Passports— At NewBridges IRC we provide support for clients in the way of filling out paperwork, gathering the necessary supporting documents, and filing applications with the local court.
Medical billing— NewBridges IRC helps clients learn how to set up payment plans, request financial assistance, and communicate with all doctors’ offices involved in patient’s care. For example, if a patient receives a bill from UVA, we help them to locate information about financial aid eligibility, required paperwork, and how to eventually submit payments.
Information about community resources— The staff and volunteers of NewBridges IRC assist clients in obtaining information about citizenship classes, English classes, food pantries, employability, Consular resources, and safety.
Diversity Workshops— NewBridges offers community workshops consisting of Immigrant Learning Events, tours, and lectures. These programs are available to local community groups such as schools, universities, classes, churches, hospitals and affinity groups. Please contact us for more information.
Immigration information—NewBridges IRC provides information regarding trustworthy immigration service providers in this region. We highly discourage persons from obtaining legal counsel from local “notarios” or tax services.
Mexican Consulate— The Mexican Consulate event is hosted annually for document updates and child/marriage registrations. The next event will be held in October of 2012.
Honduran Consulate— NewBridges IRC will host the Honduran Consulate for the second time in the fall of 2012.
Tax help— NewBridges IRC, in collaboration with volunteer experts, is periodically able to provide an event to help clients with filling out income tax paperwork, free of charge. We also maintain a list of regional groups willing to provide tax counsel.
Immigrants Academy—Thanks to funding from the Community Development Block Grant, NewBridges IRC provides regular workshops to orient newly arrived families to local schools, employment requirements, health resources, law enforcement, and adult education.
